Collagen Skin Cream |

Skin creams that contain collagen are not therefore any more effective than creams that do not contain collagen. Some skin creams do contain collagen. Wrinkle Decrease Collagen cream from L'Oreal, for example, uses collagen biospheres to smooth the surface of the skin by filling in lines and wrinkles. When it is applied, the collagen will lie on the surface of the skin. It may produce a temporary effect, but it will only last until the skin is washed. An alternative to collagen skin creams are creams that contain a smaller derivative of collagen, called hydrolyzed collagen. Hydrolyzed collagen can be absorbed into the skin. It can then be incorporated into the collagen in the skin. Providing the building blocks from which collagen can be built can help to improve the condition of the skin, but there are more effective options. Rather than providing collagen or hydrolyzed collagen, skin creams can encourage the body to produce more of its own collagen. The Pro-Collagen Marine Cream from Elemis contains natural ingredients derived from plants and seaweed, which are supposed to have this effect, but the only ingredient which has been recognized as effectively reducing wrinkles are retinols. These chemicals can help to increase collagen production in the body. They can be found in collagen skin creams such as Kollagen Intensiv. |
