Collagen Eye Cream |

Collagen is an important protein. It is a component of the connective tissue that keeps the skin smooth, plump and youthful. It is the decrease in the rate of production of collagen in the body that causes wrinkles and other signs of aging to develop. Some collagen eye creams contain collagen or hydrolyzed collagen, a smaller derivative of the collagen molecule. The intention of these creams is to increase the amount of collagen in the body, and to fill up surface lines and wrinkles with collagen. Collagen can help to temporarily reduce surface lines, but it is too large to be absorbed by the skin so it cannot affect the production of collagen. Hydrolyzed collagen is a smaller molecule. It can penetrate the skin and be incorporated into the collagen in the skin as well as affecting it from the surface. However, the body can only use a small portion of the hydrolyzed collagen it absorbs. Some eye creams contain ingredients that help to stimulate production of collagen in the body. The Pro-Collagen Eye Renewal cream, for example, contains natural plant derivatives which may help to improve the condition of the skin and promote collagen production. It is also possible to use some creams which have not been specifically designed for the area around the eyes to target this delicate area, as long as they are suitable for sensitive skin. Kollagen Intensiv, for example, can be used around the eyes. It contains retinols, which the FDA recognizes as being able to increase collagen production. |
